Our History

The late Joel Lewis began his career serving families in 1961. Licensed as a Funeral Director and Embalmer in 1965, Joel dedicated his life to developing compassionate and supportive methods to assist families in times of need. In 1990, he realized his vision with the construction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Mr. Lewis created Lewis Funeral Chapel to provide personalized service, driven by his belief that families should be served according to their unique needs, rather than corporate mandates. This desire to offer quality, personal service at a reasonable price remains the cornerstone of our operations.

Today, the dedicated staff at Lewis Funeral Chapel continues to uphold Joel Lewis' legacy, embodying the principles of being family-first and family-focused. We are proud to serve the communities of Arkansas and Oklahoma with the same commitment and care that Joel Lewis established.
