Betty Mary Chancey, age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Born May 28, 1940, in Figure Five, Arkansas, she was a beloved daughter of Perry Hunter and Lottie Belle Lintton. A true DIY extraordinaire, Betty had a creative spirit and a passion for crafting floral arrangements. She embraced life with enthusiasm, enjoying dancing, reading, cruises, casino trips, and tacos. A lover of the outdoors, she found joy in camping with her grandchildren, working in her yard, and hosting family barbecues.
Above all, Betty took pride in her role as "Awesome Grandma", cherishing her grandchildren with unwavering love. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who always had the best intentions for her family, leaving behind a legacy of fierce love, warmth, and cherished memories.
Betty is survived by her two children, Belinda Lensing and spouse Mark; and Steve Chancey; six grandchildren, Matthew Lensing; Tyler Lensing; Chad Lensing; Chris Chancey; Jacki Chancey; and Will Chancey; three great-grandchildren, Autumn Wiley; Kaylon Lensing; and Tanner Lensing; one sister, Debbie Smith; nephews, Greg Cherry; Rod Newton; and Caleb Smith; and her niece, Diana Lynn.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Lottie Hunter; her beloved husband of 57 years, Kenneth Chancey; her brothers, Buddy and Bobby Hunter; and her sisters, Penny Hunter and Belva Cherry.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Lewis Funeral Chapel, located at 4817 Kelley Hwy in Fort Smith, AR 72904. The Funeral Service will take place following the Visitation at 11:00 a.m., also at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren. Brother Sid Ree is to officiate. Pallbearers will be William Chancey, Christopher Chancey, Matthew Lensing, Tyler Lensing, and Chad Lensing. Services are entrusted to Lewis Funeral Chapel.
