Billy Joe Powers

 Billy Joe Powers, age 88, Passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, at his home in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on October 14, 1936, in Paris, Arkansas to Willis James Powers and Bertha May (Miller) Powers. 

Billy spent his childhood in Arkansas and graduated from Northside High School in Fort Smith before moving to California. As a young man, he enjoyed dancing and had a joyful spirit that drew people to him. In California, he built a successful landscaping business through hard work and dedication. It was there that Billy met and married the love of his life, Beverly Powers. The two shared many wonderful years together before her passing, creating countless memories filled with love and laughter. Billy moved back to Arkansas in 1993 and remained here until his passing. A devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan, Billy rarely missed a game. On Sundays, he found comfort and inspiration watching Dr. Jeremiah. Above all, Billy will be remembered as a good man with a kind, generous, and giving heart. He gave freely to many charitable causes, including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, and numerous veteran organizations. His compassion and selflessness touched many lives and will continue to inspire those who knew him.

Billy is survived by his step-daughter, Laurie Davis; one brother, Gary Powers; one sister, Pat Rickman; two nephews, Greg Rickman and Chris Rickman; cousins, Rosemary and Spouse Buddy, Daisy Bruns; as well as his close friends, Max Willis, Linda Bowman, Sharyn Steinmetz, and Gerald Oliver.

He is preceded death by his parents,Willis James Powers and Bertha May (Miller) Powers; His loving wife, Beverly Powers; a step-son, as well as a step-grandson. 

There will be a graveside service at 2:00p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
