Cynthia Rae Ward, age 77, passed peacefully in her home on February 2, 2025. Born on January 28, 1948, in Fayetteville, Cynthia was a beloved daughter and sister.
After graduating high school, Cynthia went to work as a waitress and in customer service. She loved reading, cooking, her dogs Tweedle and Blue, and listening to music. She had a creative heart, enjoying making jewelry and macrame. Cynthia would often donate her time as manager of the Golden Rule Clothes Closet.
She was a proud, independent woman who was extremely proud of the men her boys had become.
Cynthia is preceded in death by her son, Matthew Jason Luper; her sister, Chery Walter; her brother, Mark Chaney; her mother; Betty (Kinsey) Chaney; her step-dad, Clyde Chaney; her father, Warren Taggart, and a host of friends.
Cynthia is survived by her three sons, Charles, Marshall, and Christopher; six grandchildren: Jesse Dale, Elizabeth, Kyra, Sierra, Jake, and Brandon; five great-grandchildren: Rowan, Christopher, Whisper, Gavin, and Umi; her sister, Tamara Stahl, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her children will have a private service to spread her remains in Key West, Florida at a later time. Cremation under the care of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
