Danny Carney Obituary

Danny Keith Carney, 74, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Mercy Hospital. Born on June 21, 1950, in Fort Smith, Danny was the beloved son of the late Earl Carney and Elizabeth (Bowman) Carney.
Danny dedicated 42 years of his professional life as a lead man at Rheem Manufacturing, where he was respected for his hard work and leadership until his retirement. Outside of work, Danny's life revolved around his passion for sports and coaching.

A gifted coach and mentor, Danny spent years inspiring youth as a Church League baseball coach and official. He also volunteered at Southside High School as a baseball coach and devoted many years coaching football at the Fort Smith Boys Club, where he led his team to an impressive five-year winning streak. Danny’s love for sports extended to his family, where he had the special honor of coaching his granddaughter’s softball teams. His dedication was evident as he never missed a single event in his children’s or grandchildren’s lives.

In his later years, Danny became an avid golfer and continued cheering on his favorite teams—the Razorbacks, Cowboys, and Cardinals. Known for his outgoing and loyal nature, Danny was a friend to all and a man of unwavering Christian faith. Above all, he will be remembered as a devoted and caring family man, who was dedicated to building up the young men and women of his community.

Danny is survived by Bobbie Jeremiah; his three children: Daniel Carney of Greenwood, Arkansas, Keith Carney (and wife Tara) of Greenwood, Arkansas, and Brian Carney of Fort Smith, Arkansas; seven grandchildren: Alyssa Ewing (and husband John), Zach Carney, Maci Carney, Makayla Cullen (and husband Brayden), Makenzie Carney, Maleigha Carney, and Hannah Carney; and two great-grandchildren: Tucker Ewing and Cooper Ewing. He also leaves behind two brothers: Butch Carney (and wife Sandy) and Ronnie Carney (and wife Jeannie), along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Elizabeth Carney; two sisters, Linda Arnold and Wanda Clark; and one brother, Richard Kirk.
