David Michael Barrett Hunter

David Michael Barrett Hunter, age 51, passed away peacefully on Friday,
December 27, 2024, at home, surrounded by loved ones.

David was born August 10, 1973, in Rockford, Illinois.  He held a Bachelor of Arts in History and was a Certified Paralegal. He was an avid reader who loved libraries and used bookstores, with a special love for studying the Holy Bible.  He cherished time with his wife “Lizzie” on their walks in the park, daily birdwatching, and country drives. His nieces and nephews called him their favorite uncle also known as “Funcle.” David was a brilliant mind and beautiful soul whose memory lives on in the many people touched by his intellect, witty sense of humor, handsome smile, and warm hugs. 

David was preceded in death by his natural father Craig E. Barrett. 

David is profoundly missed by his loving wife Elizabeth E. Hunter of 10 years, daughter Addison M. Bull, son in law Alexander K. Bull, grandson who bares his namesake, John Michael Bull, Parents Janis K. Hunter and Bob E. Hunter, sister Christa Deanne Barrett Hunter Libertini, brother in law Nick Libertini, nephews Enzo Libertini, Nicco Libertini, Rocco Libertini, brother Rob Hunter, nephew Vance Hunter, niece Maggie Hunter, sister Edie Hunter, sister Mary Arne, nephew Maxwell Arne, Nels Arne, niece Brittany Schmitt. 

His wife would like to express gratitude to the medical personnel who shared David’s journey.  A private celebration is planned for the family.  Please consider donating to your favorite local library or used bookstore in honor of David’s love of learning.
