David Randall Johnson, age 66, of Hackett, Arkansas, passed away on January 15, 2025. He was born to William Thomas Johnson, affectionately known as "Dub," and Glenda L. Kersh, and was a cherished son and brother.
David proudly served in the U.S. Army and later built a remarkable 40-year career as a Union Iron Worker. Throughout his career, he earned recognition in Union Workers Magazine multiple times displaying his unmatched skill and played a key role as Foreman on numerous landmark projects across the country, including Razorback Stadium, the Fort Smith Library, University of Arkansas dormitories, Washington Regional Medical Center, Golden Living Retirement Village, and the Freedom Tower in New York City to name a few.
David married the love of his life, Sue Johnson, on February 17, 1990, in Highland, Indiana, and together they shared a life full of love, laughter, and joy.
Music was a great passion for David, and he was skilled on both the guitar and drums. He had an eclectic taste in music, enjoying all genres, and could often be found strumming his guitar and singing along with his favorite tunes. David also had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, especially fishing, boating, and sitting on the back porch cheering on the Razorbacks. Larger than life, David had a beautiful smile that lit up any room. He lived his life fully with his quick wit and big personality always spreading laughter and a guaranteed good time. David left a lasting impact on everyone he was around. His devotion to his family was unwavering, he always had your back and was ready to protect those he loved.
David was preceded in death by his father, William Johnson, mother Glenda L Kersh; his sister Cindy, his brother Roger and his daughter Nichole Brantley;
He is survived by his loving wife, Sue Johnson of Hackett, AR; his daughter, Jennifer Hale and husband Scott of Springdale, AR, and daughter Lisa Mars of Hammond, IN;12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
A celebration of life in David’s honor will be held in the near future. Cremation arrangements are being handled by Lewis Funeral Chapel.
