Donald Eugene Hicks, age 82, passed away on May 31, 2026, in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Born on July 4, 1943, in Booneville, Arkansas, Donald was the beloved son of the late Ray Hicks and Florence (Davis) Rego.
Donald dedicated 31 years of service to Sparks Hospital, where he built a respected career before retiring. He was known for his strong work ethic, steadfast faith, and unwavering commitment to the people and causes he cared about.
A devoted member of Southside Pentecostal Church for more than 40 years, Donald faithfully served his church family in many capacities, including assisting with offerings and other church responsibilities. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he will be remembered as a God-loving, God-fearing man whose loyalty to his church and Christian values never wavered.
Outside of church, Donald found great enjoyment in trains, antique model cars, and spending time pursuing his many interests. He appreciated the simple joys of life and treasured the friendships and connections he made throughout the years.
Donald is survived by his brother, James Rego and wife, Dena; his sister, Malisa Phillips and husband, Wayne; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Hicks; his mother, Florence Rego; his stepfather, Albert Rego; his brother, Randall “Randy” Smoot; and his sister, Janie Wilhite.
Cremation is under the thoughtful direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
