Donald Paul Wilson, known as “Duck” by most, left this world on Sunday, October 5, 2025. He was born on April 20, 1940, at Bollinger Hospital in Charleston, Arkansas, and was raised in Lavaca by his parents, Oscar Wilson and Mae (Hunter) Wilson.
Duck married the love of his life, Loretta, in 1961. Together, they shared many wonderful years, building a life filled with love, laughter, and family.
A hardworking man with a strong spirit, Duck spent his life pouring concrete. Outside of work, he found great joy in the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and camping. He was known for his gift of storytelling, often spinning tall tales that brought smiles and laughter to those around him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Loretta Wilson; his children: Donnie Wilson and wife Melinda of Charleston, Sherrill and Jody Irvin of Charleston, and Shela and Bryan Freeman of Subiaco; his seven grandchildren: Kausha Cox, Michael Wilson, Caleb Irvin, Emily McCool, Baylie Irvin, Bryant Lee Freeman, and Dustin Freeman; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his two beloved sisters, Shirley Scott and Helen Jones.
Duck was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Nellie Mae Wilson; his son, Douglas Wilson; and his siblings: Fred Wilson, Hazel Parker, Ralph Wilson, Vance Wilson, Cleo Turk, and Johnny Wilson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 1000 West Main Street in Lavaca, Arkansas. A Rosary will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Charleston, Arkansas. A funeral Mass will follow on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Father Polycarp Ssebbowa.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Karms, Pete Strozzier, Michael Wilson, Kolby Wilson, Caleb Wilson, and Bryant Lea Freeman. Services under the care of Lewis Funeral Chapel
