Donald Ray “Don” Gentry Sr., age 86, passed away on March 15, 2026, in Van Buren, Arkansas. He was born on September 24, 1939, in Rudy, Arkansas, to Ruby Reynolds and Walter Gentry.
Don found great peace in the quiet of nature. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and could often be found taking a walk or casting a line while fishing.
He will be remembered for the way he lived his life—with a relaxed spirit and a willingness to help others. Don’s kind and caring nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Don is survived by his three children: Donald Gentry “Donnie” Jr. of Fort Smith, Judy McKinnon of Murfreesboro, and Skyla Gentry of Van Buren. He also leaves behind six grandchildren—Michael, Leah, Deanna, Sierra, Billy Wayne, and Savannah—and five great-grandchildren: Macon, Isaac, Huxton, Ryland, and Dali. He is further survived by his two brothers, Leon and Gerald Gentry, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ruby (Reynolds) Gentry; his son, Mark Gentry; and his siblings, Carroll Gentry, Quincy Gentry, and Carlotta (Gentry) Hudson.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith, Arkansas. A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Mount McCurry Cemetery in Rudy, Arkansas. Services are entrusted to Lewis Funeral Chapel.
