Donnie Wayne Sharp

Donnie Wayne Sharp, 62, of Van Buren, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with MDS and the complications that followed. While his family's hearts are broken, they take comfort in knowing he is finally at peace.

Born on September 19, 1963, in Muldrow, Oklahoma, Donnie was the son of Clifford and Rubye (Garner) Sharp. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1980 to 1988, a chapter of his life that remained a source of pride throughout the years. Following his military service, he dedicated many years to a career with the United States Postal Service before enjoying a well-earned retirement.

In March of 1988, Donnie married the love of his life, Sandra Sharp. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; his daughters, Bridgett Logan and son-in-law Tamaras Logan, Dicia Bosley and son-in-law Steven Bosley, and Sabra Richmond and son-in-law Phillip Richmond. He was also a proud Papa to Kaeden Bosley, Kennedy Richmond, Karsen Bosley, and Kole Logan, who always knew they could count on him for a laugh, a story, a life lesson, or an opinion they didn't ask for but were getting anyway.

He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Smith and brother-in-law Tommy Smith, and brother-in-law Virgal Haney.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Rubye Sharp, and his daughter, Tristan Haney, whom he loved dearly.

He enjoyed playing guitar, listening to rock music, storm tracking, camping with family, watching Razorback sports, and spending countless hours fixing electronics. As a certified ham radio operator, he could often be found monitoring weather reports and keeping an eye on storms long before everyone else knew they were coming.

Those who knew Donnie will remember his quick wit, kind heart, and ability to make nearly anyone feel welcome. He accepted people for who they were and  believed everyone deserved kindness and respect. He had a gift for making people laugh, even during difficult times, and never met a stranger for long.

More than anything, Donnie loved his family. He was proud of his military service, proud of the life he built, and especially proud of his children and grandchildren. They were his greatest accomplishment and his greatest joy.

His family asks that when you think of Donnie, you play a favorite rock song a little louder than necessary, cheer for the Razorbacks, watch a thunderstorm roll in, or share a laugh with someone you love. He would've preferred that over too many tears.

A committal service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026 at the Fort Smith National Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Lewis Funeral Chapel.
