Earlene (Cummings) Watford was born on November 1, 1948, in Cedars, Oklahoma, to the late Cora Leana Massey and Earl Eugene Cummings.
Earlene completed her formal education in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Later, she received her Deaconess Missionary License from the Oklahoma Southeast Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ.
She was a woman of remarkable strength and a tireless work ethic. Earlene spent many years as a dedicated member of the Whirlpool production team.
Earlene was a member of her family church, Macedonia Temple Church of God and Christ. All her life, she served faithfully in many capacities: Sunday school teacher, church secretary, and church clerk. Throughout her life, her faith in the lord never failed.
Earlene was an enrolled member of the Choctaw Nation and took great pride in her Native American heritage and her official standing within the tribe.
She was engaged in many aspects of ministry; God led her to support multiple charities. Her most passionate ministries were prison ministries where she prepared and sent care packages, and nursing home ministries where she read scriptures and led worship services.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, mother Cora Leana Massey and father Earl Eugene Cummings. One sister, Valeria Bunch, and one brother, James Black.
She leaves to cherish her memories Antonio Watford (Yolonda) of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Alan Lee Watford (Sharice) of Arlington, Texas. Siblings: Eric Massey of Fort Coffee, Oklahoma; Pathro Black of Fort Smith, Arkansas; Norman Cummings and Amelia Cummings of San Francisco, California. Five grandchildren: Summer (Michael), Amanda (Brendon), Simeon, Destiny, and Darian. Five great-grandchildren: Autumn, August, Ariya, Brendon, Benjamin. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends both near and far.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Viewing will take place prior to the Funeral Service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Macedonia Temple Church of God in Christ, located at 204 Butler Ave, Pocola, Oklahoma 74902, and the Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Leard Cemetery in Pocola, Oklahoma, following the services. Superintendent J.D. Fraizer and Elder Donald Cummings are to officiate. Services are entrusted to Lewis Funeral Chapel.
