Elmer Jones Obituary

Elmer Maurice “Moe” Jones, age 88, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, September 29, 2025, in Booneville, Arkansas. Born August 29, 1937, in Delaware County, Oklahoma, he was the beloved son of Gilbert Jones and Euna (White) Jones.

Moe graduated from high school in Afton, Oklahoma, and soon answered the call to serve his country. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1964, spending time stationed in Thule, Greenland. Following his military service, Moe built a longtime career as a service technician with Hawkins Heat and Air.

In his free time, he found joy in birdwatching and the quiet beauty of the outdoors. He tended his garden, cared for his cows, and especially loved watching the leaves change each Fall. Moe was a man of Christian faith and a devoted member of Dayton Church of Christ, where he often lent a hand to widows of the congregation. He will be remembered as a talkative “jaw jacking” man who was generous, caring, hard-working, and above all, a loving father.

Moe is survived by his two children, Beverly Jones of Greenwood, AR; and Jeff Jones and wife Dianah of Booneville, AR; daughter-in-law, Shelly Jones; eight grandchildren, Olivia, Sofia, Cameron, Taryn, Kaley, and Jeffrey Jr., Maralea, and Arlen; six great-grandchildren, Alexia, Benjamin, Marian, Elijah, Aubrey, and David; and a host of extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Euna Jones; his wife, Bettie Jones; his son, Joel Steven Jones; his grandson, Brian; and many siblings.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Lewis Funeral Chapel, 4817 Kelley Hwy in Fort Smith, AR.
