Era Armina Massongill, age 84, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away at Mercy Hospital on September 26th, 2024. Born February 28th, 1940, She was a beloved daughter of H.H. and Nellie (Playford) McConnell. Era married the love of her life Cleveland B. Massongill on December 22nd, 1958, in Stilwell, Oklahoma. She enjoyed a carrier at Waldron Furniture until she retired. In her retirement she found joy in Gardening, sewing, and feeding the squirrels and hummingbirds in her yard. She was of the Freewill Baptist faith and she loved the Lord. Era will be remembered as a loving and caring mother who never met a stranger. She was cherished by all who knew her, including her Friends and Family. She loved her children dearly and showed it by always putting their needs above her own, always offering unwavering support. She was a dedicated and hardworking individual who believed in getting things done, rather than putting them off.
Era is survived by one son, Steven Massongill of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Terry and Gary of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two great-grandchildren, Jaden and Uri; one brother, Clarence McConnell; and one uncle, Charlie McConnell. She is Preceded in passing by her cherished parents, H.H. and Nellie McConnell; Her beloved husband, Cleveland B. Massongill; one daughter, Sarah Zimmer; and four siblings, Glen Nadine, Clark Harold, Jimmy Dick, and Jerry Dan. All services are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
