Evelyn Lucille Sangster, age 79, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on June 26, 1946 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Thomas Jack Sangster and Edna Marie Sangster (Isam).
Evelyn worked for many years at Riverside Furniture Factory, where she built a long and dedicated career and was known for her strong work ethic and commitment. Outside of work, she enjoyed spending quiet time on her tablet, where she loved playing games, solving puzzles, and coloring. These simple activities brought her joy and helped her relax.
Evelyn also had a special love for animals, especially her beloved cat, who brought her comfort and companionship. She found happiness in caring for the animals she loved and always had a soft heart for them.
Above all else, Evelyn cherished the time she spent with her family. Whether sharing conversations, laughter, or simply being together, those moments meant the most to her. Her faith was an important part of her life and guided the way she lived each day, shaping her kindness, compassion, and generosity. Evelyn truly had a heart of gold. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and often placed the needs of others before her own. Her caring spirit, gentle heart, and deep love for her family will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Evelyn is survived by her beloved daughter, Kim Martin and Husband Ken; five grandchildren, Joshua Looper and Morgan Layne, Dustin Looper, Stephen Martin, Brandon Martin, Kenny Martin; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jane Young, Linda Brixey; as well as Numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in passing by her parents Thomas Jack Sangster and Edna Marie Sangster (Isam); three sisters, Sue Mahar, Dean Murchison, Jackie Hollis; as well as a brother, Tommy Sangster.
There will be a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2026 at Lewis Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Lewis Funeral Chapel, with Reverend John Embrey to Officiate. Interment will follow at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren, Arkansas. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Ferguson, Darrell Sangster, Ken Martin, Dustin Looper, Joshua Looper, and David Brixey. Services are under the thoughtful care of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
