Fernando Velasquez Delpozo A.K.A. “Cuba” or ‘Jimmy”, age 62, passed away peacefully in his home on September 16, 2024, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born April 30, 1962, in San Antonio del Sur, Guantanamo, Cuba, to the late Fernando Del Pozo Rodriguez and Bernardina Zenaida Velasquez Denis. Fernando was a lover of the Hogs, gardening, watching baseball, and fishing. He enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with his dogs: Pacheco, Georgie, Loks, Pirata, and Pishew. He was a man of the Christian faith, and attended Evangel Temple for most of his life. Fernando had a giving spirit, and often volunteered at Antioch Food Pantry. He will be remembered as a strong man who did whatever he could to help those around him, even if it meant that he went without. He always tried his best to do right by everyone the best way he knew how. Above all else, Fernando loved his children and his dogs.
Fernando is survived by his eight children, Fernando Delpozo; Alfredo Delpozo and partner Ashley; Senaida Delpozo; Marissa Gonzalez and partner Demarrius Scott; Anadelia Delpozo; Sofia Delpozo and partner Tomas Ramos; Mariela Delpozo; and Fernando Delpozo III; eleven grandchildren; and his sister, Virgen Delia Del Pozo Velasquez. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernardina Zenaida Velasquez Denis and Fernando Delpozo Rodriguez; his son, Emilio Delpozo; and his sister, Ana Elsa Velasquez Denis.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Oak Cemetery, located at 1401 S Greenwood Ave, Fort Smith, AR 72901. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to assist with costs of Fernando’s arrangements. Donations can be made on GoFundMe.
