Fredricka Eugene Black, age 53, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away on November 26, 2025, at Baptist Health Hospital. Born on November 8, 1972, in Fort Smith, he was the son of the late Minne Ola (Black) McCurtain and Verlon Blocker.
Fredricka graduated from Spiro High School and later built a proud career in construction. On March 17, 2007, Fredricka married Crystal Metcalf, and together they built a loving and supportive family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, sibling, and friend.
Fredricka's greatest joys in life came from simple pleasures and the people he loved. He enjoyed fishing, watching football, singing, dancing, watching movies, and joking with those around him. His laughter, warmth, and playful spirit made him unforgettable to all who knew him. Fredricka will be remembered as a hardworking man, a loving family member, and a friend whose generosity and willingness to help anyone in need touched the lives of all around him.
He is survived by his wife, Crystal Metcalf; his five children: Shawnta, Rico, Andrea, Devonta, and Keaden; his four grandchildren: Legend, Island, Hae Rae, and Osohn; his beloved dog, Bo; his three siblings: Ulonda, Bernice, and Celeste; his aunt, Linda Black Scott; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members, including Kamel, Bryon, Lisa, Temy, Leah, Samera, Aliyah, and Alilia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Minne Ola McCurtain and Verlon Blocker; his grandmother, Beatrice Bloodsaw; his stepfather, Emmitt McCurtain; and his grandchild, Kazy.
A visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 2, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel, with a funeral to follow on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Triumph Baptist Church, officiated by Wesley Hooks. Pallbearers will include Jayvian, Kalen, Bryon, Wesley, Ken, Jon Dewayne, Cedric, and Jordan. Fredricka will be interred into Fort Coffee Cemetery. Following the service, a reception will be held at Golden Corral.
Services are under the care of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
