Gail Huyser Obituary

Gail Roger Huyser, age 81, passed away peacefully at his home in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on March 18, 2026. He was born on September 6, 1944, in Pryor, Oklahoma, to the late Corneal Andrew Huyser and Maxine Marie (Post) Pederson.

Gail graduated from high school in Centralia, Oklahoma. He later married the love of his life, Lois Huyser, and together they shared 32 wonderful years of marriage. He dedicated 38 years of his life to a career with Whirlpool, where he served in many roles before retiring from the materials shipping department.

In his free time, Gail was a skilled craftsman who found great joy in woodworking. He built everything from garden frames to whatever his wife imagined up, always busy with projects for family and friends. A true jack of all trades, he took pride in working with his hands. When he wasn't in the workshop, Gail could often be found cheering on the Razorbacks basketball team, especially during the excitement of March Madness.

A man of the Baptist faith, Gail will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his constant smile, warm sense of humor, and willingness to help anyone in need. He was a dependable and hardworking man who left a lasting impression on those around him.

Gail is survived by his four children, Mary “Miki” Brandenburg, Dudley Huyser, John Bivens III, and Ken Thuesen; eleven grandchildren, including Christopher, Nickole, Kirsten, Zachary, Hunter, Shallyn, Brayden, Briauna, and Billy Joe; as well as many beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Corneal Huyser; his mother, Maxine Pederson; his cherished wife, Lois Huyser; his son, Dale Huyser; his daughters, Lafaye Huyser and Sherri Thuesen; and his siblings, Ronnie Huyser and Barbara Andrews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
