Gerald Lucas Payne Jr., aged 81, passed away in his home in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on October 1st, 1943 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to his beloved parents Gerald Lucas Payne Sr. and Jane Gordon (Satterfield) Payne. Gerald Proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He earned the rank of Sergeant before he was honorably discharged. Gerald was a member of the Evangel Temple, where he served the Lord faithfully. He loved to watch all sports, whether it be on T.V. or in person at the games. In his free time he enjoyed a round of golf. Gerald had a kind and generous heart that always took care of everyone around him. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Gerald is survived by one sister, Gordon Kenny; a sister in law, Paula Forcht; a brother in law, Richard Forcht; a nephew, David Menchue; two nieces, Summer Menchue and Melissa Kenny; and one cousin, Missy Roebuck. He is preceded in passing by his beloved wife Joyce Payne; and his parents, Gerald Lucas Payne Sr and Jane Gordon (Satterfield) Payne.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, October 28th, 2024, at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, located at 522 Garland Avenue, Fort Smith, Arkansas. There will be a visitation held at 9:00am prior to the funeral service at Lewis Funeral Chapel, Located at 4817 Kelley Highway, Fort Smith, Arkansas. All services are under the careful direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
