Geraldine Marie (Turner) Massey

Geraldine Massey went home to be with her Heavenly Father on March 16th, 2026.

Geraldine was born to Edwin and Ethel Turner on June 10th, 1925 and spent a happy childhood with her five siblings in Odenton, Maryland. After marrying J.W.”Pete” Massey in 1945, they lived in Little Rock for a time before settling in Fort Smith, AR. where they would grow their family.

“Memaw”, as she was known to most, not only raised five children and helped raise her grandchildren, she also spent her working years caring for other’s children in her home.

Memaw loved to crochet, often gifting her beautiful creations to her friends and family. Nothing made her happier than creating a blanket or some booties for a new life. She believed in staying busy and once spent a year gathering plastic shopping bags and weaving them into mats for the homeless. Her sweet, independent spirit and straightforward manner will be remembered lovingly and missed by all who knew her.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her daughter, Jerri Massey McLemore, grandson David Massey; sisters Vivian Marino, Gloria Minarik, Evelyn Beall; brothers Howard Turner and Charles Turner; and husband J.W. Massey.

She is survived by her children, Wayne Massey (Janice), Janis Pence (Wayne), Michael Massey, and Sherri Sulcer (Kyle); grandchildren Brad Chafin (Susan), Keli Bennett (Tim), Colin Massey (Leslie), Sydney Welk (Chris), and Jonathan Sulcer (Lykah); and great grandchildren Sam Bennett, Nick Chafin, Riley Chafin, Jack Bennett, Adelie Massey, Arden Massey, and Asher Sulcer; and son in law Mike McLemore.

Visitation will be held March 28th from 2:00-4:00 pm at Lewis Funeral Home 4817 Kelley Hwy, Fort Smith, AR, 72904.
