Gisela Anna Marie Sirratt, 95 of Barling, Arkansas, passed away peacefully in her home with family by her side on September 6, 2025.
Gisela was born on July 10, 1930 in Wöbbelin, Germany to Herman and Elli Gotter.
Gisela married her first husband, Airman First Class Charles Brant of the United States Air Force, in 1955. Shortly after, she immigrated to the United States and made her home in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She worked for Safeway as a meat wrapper for more than 30 years, where she was known for her strong work ethic and friendly spirit. In November 1966, Charles and Gisela adopted their beloved daughter, Diana, completing their family.
In 1995, Gisela married Dewey Sirratt of Alma, Arkansas. Together, they shared many happy years until Dewey’s passing in 2011.
Family was always at the heart of Gisela’s life. During her marriage to Charles, she was an active member of the German American Club and loved traveling on vacations. Later, she and Dewey enjoyed camping, traveling, and spending evenings dancing at the VFW. One of their greatest joys was building a log cabin on Lake Tenkiller, where they created countless cherished memories together.
Gisela was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and her husband Dewey.
She is survived by her daughter, Diana Oglesby and husband Joseph; her grandchildren, Keith Beard and wife Lauren, Michelle Ramer and husband G., Amber Oglesby; 10 great grandchildren; as well as a nephew, Enrico Gotter and wife Johanna of Wulmstorf, Germany.
There will be a visitation held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at the Fort Smith National Cemetery.
