Iris Tripp Obituary

Iris Louise “Lucy” Tripp, age 95, of Delta, Colorado, passed away on April 17, 2026. She was born on July 24, 1930, in Excelsior, Arkansas, to Jasper Solomon Williams and Edna Delana (Johnson) Williams.

Lucy graduated from Greenwood High School in the Class of 1950. On May 30, 1952, she married Bailey Don Tripp at Central Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She devoted many years of her career to working as a telephone operator at Fort Chaffee and later with Southwestern Bell Telephone and AT&T.

Lucy found great joy in traveling, listening to music, and spending time with her family. She was a faithful member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church and cherished her faith and church community. Though she made her home in Colorado, she was always an Arkansas country girl at heart.

She is survived by her three children: Hildridge D. Tripp and his wife Teresa of North Little Rock, Arkansas; Rebecca “Becki” Lewis and her husband Lindsey Scott Lewis of Cedaredge, Colorado; and Timothy Tripp. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Mindy Robinson (Jesse) of Delta, Colorado; Josh Hearn (Kali McKnight) of Owasso, Oklahoma; Philip Tripp of North Little Rock Arkansas; Deanna Tripp of North Little Rock Arkansas; Matthew Lewis of Pea Green, Colorado; and Nicolle Lewis Delta Colorado; and her eleven great-grandchildren: Jonathan Robinson (Morgan) of Montrose, Colorado; Jennah Robinson, Jaidyn Robinson, and Jonah Robinson, all of Delta, Colorado; Jillianne Robinson and Jolee Robinson of Pennsville, New Jersey; Abel McKnight and Patrick Henry Hearn of Owasso, Oklahoma; Everlea Lewis of Castle Rock, Colorado; and Madison Lewis and Izaac Lewis of Delta, Colorado.

As the youngest of eleven children, Lucy leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, along with great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Edna Williams; her sisters Virginia Hoffman, Dorothy Toman, Juanita Lewis, and Genevieve Leonard; and her brothers Otis Williams, Cyril Williams, Commodore Williams, Harley Williams, Darwin Williams, and Joseph Williams. Many of her loved ones welcomed her at the pearly gates of heaven.
