Jessie “Tommy” Thomas Wilson, age 79, passed away on April 1, 2026, at his home in Van Buren, Arkansas. He was born on November 24, 1946, in Toccopola, Mississippi, to the late S.T. Wilson and Viola (Jaco) Wilson.
Tommy married the love of his life, Betty (Moore) Wilson, on December 5, 1967, in Van Buren. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968. Following his military service, Tommy became a business owner, operating Tom’s Heat and Air until his retirement.
In his free time, Tommy enjoyed refurbishing furniture, crappie fishing, and spending time visiting with friends and family. A man of strong faith, he faithfully served as a Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church for many years. Tommy will be remembered as a God-fearing man who loved deeply and wholeheartedly.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Wilson of the home; his son, Barry and wife Stephanie of Van Buren; three grandchildren, Seth and wife Jessica, Zachary and wife Ashley, and Lauren and husband Brian; and seven great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Addi, Brady, Sloane, Harleigh, Charlotte, and Ember. He is also survived by his brothers, Billy and wife Anna and Bobby and wife Linda; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws; as well as many dear friends, including Edward Ellis and George O’Neel.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, S.T. and Viola Wilson; his brothers, James and Alan Wilson; and his sisters, Elnora Newton and Sue Branch.
A committal service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026 at the Fort Smith National Cemetery. A service following the committal will take place at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Fort Smith. Edward Ellis and George O'Neel are to officiate.
