Joel Dean Jordan, age 87, of Rudy, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at his home on April 9, 2025. He was born on January 16, 1938, in Figure Five, Arkansas, to John and Edna (Sargent) Jordan.
On February 19, 1971, Joel married the love of his life, Joyce. Together, they shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and treasured memories in the short time they had prior to her passing. Joel proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years and later gave his life to Christ, and attended Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church. He lived his life as an example of Christian faith for his children, grandchildren, and everyone around him.
Joel was a kindhearted man who enjoyed staying busy with hands-on-work, including woodworking, arts and crafts, and arrowhead creation.
He was a jokester, and a people-person, whose can-do spirit was matched only by his deep love for his family. Joel touched many lives and will be remembered for his quiet strength, giving heart, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Jordan; his parents, John and Edna Jordan; and six siblings: David, Gladys, Jasper, John Jr., T.J., and Roy.
Joel leaves behind a loving family who will carry on his legacy: his children, John Jordan and Kimberly Burleson; his eight grandchildren, Deven Burleson (Allysa), Austin Burleson (Kirsten), Brayedon Jordan, Levi Burleson, Alyssa Jordan, Kristian Jordan, Ryan Jordan, and Kaige Jordan; two great-grandchildren, Pasleigh Burleson and Ayedon Jordan; and two more great-grandchildren expected soon, Cohen Burleson (Deven & Allysa) and Hazel Burleson (Austin & Kirsten). He is also survived by his sister, Marie Stuckey; his brother, Troy Jordan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Lewis Funeral Chapel, located at 4817 Kelley Hwy in Fort Smith, AR. The Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, also at Lewis Funeral Chapel, with interment at Sarah's Grove Cemetery. Rev. Randall Ray will officiate.
