John Hindmarsh Obituary

John Darrell Hindmarsh, age 74, passed away after a short battle with Leukemia on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Born September 2, 1950, he was a beloved son of Darrell Wesley Hindmarsh and Ruth Ellen (Simmons) Hindmarsh. John was a graduate of Northside High School in Fort Smith, AR, Class of 1968. Shortly after graduation, John joined the United States Military, having served in the Army from 1968 to 1977, with a 13 month tour in Vietnam, as well as the 188th Air National Guard from 1983 to 1998, up until his retirement. In the midst of his noble service, John married the love of his life, Becky (Ray) Hindmarsh on June 2, 1983, in Gatesville, Texas, and they spent 41 years together in marriage. John worked many years as a maintenance technician at several local companies, such as Mead Container, Inland, and Allen Canning. Since retirement, he continued working part time in various positions with O'Reilly's, Area Agency, and most recently, Wal-Mart. He was a man who enjoyed many things in his life. In his spare time John could be found watching Fox News, playing Texas Hold 'Em, drinking coffee, or deciphering Sodoku puzzles. He was a hard working man, who was always dedicated to providing for his family, whom he loved immensely. John will be remembered as a gentle soul, who was hard working, sincere, peaceful, and a humble man of God. He will be dearly missed by a host of family and friends.
