Julita Cyrus Obituary

Julita P. Cyrus, age 69, passed away peacefully in her home on September 25, 2024, in Van Buren, Arkansas. Born July 1, 1955, she was a beloved daughter of Juan Perreras and Encarnation (Villanueva) Perreras. Julita married the love of her life, Rickey Cyrus, on July 24, 1975, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and they spent almost 50 blissful years together in marriage. Julita was a dutiful homemaker, who enjoyed cooking fantastic meals for her family and friends. She was also a skilled seamstress, having attended sewing school in the Philippines in her youth. Julita took pride in keeping her home clean, and she loved hosting large gatherings for all her loved ones, especially during Christmas time. In her free time, she loved watching soap operas, and going shopping. Julita was proud of her Filipino heritage, and she was actively involved in the Filipino American Association for 30 years, having formerly served as their Vice President. She will be remembered as a very giving and loving person, who was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. 

Julita is survived by her husband, Rickey Cyrus of Van Buren, Arkansas; two children, Teressa Cyrus and Clifford Cyrus and their spouses, David Dunaway and Candy Cyrus of Van Buren, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Isaac and Felissa; two great-grandchildren, Siera and Kimberly; three brothers, Julio Perreras, Lorenzo Perreras, and Carlito Perreras; one sister, Glory Perreras; nieces, Merly Bradley and Geni Lyn Mejia; nephew, Gerry Perreras; great-niece,  Jecheille Grace Perreras Mejia; and Brandy Warren. Julita also leaves behind a host of family in the Philippines, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Encarnation Perreras; one sister, Delores Newell; and one brother, Ador Perreras. 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Lewis Funeral Chapel, located at 4817 Kelley Hwy in Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904. The Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, also at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Internment will follow the service at 11:00 AM on October 1, 2024, at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, located at 522 Garland Ave. Pastor Dan Williams will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Isaac Sapp, Scott Winter, Ray Rivera, David Dunaway, and Dylan Sexton.
