June Ella Curry

June Ella Curry, age 83, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Born June 5, 1941, she was a beloved daughter of John G. Barnett and Marze Barnett. June married the love of her life, the late John D. Curry Sr., in 1956, and they enjoyed 41 blissful years together in marriage. She spent her days as a devoted homemaker, who was very skilled at sewing, cooking, and gardening. In her later years, June found a love for yard sales, and watching soap operas on television, especially her favorite, The Young And The Restless. June will be remembered as a woman of tough love, and her family described her as a hoot! She will be dearly missed by a host of family and friends. 

June is survived by her four children, Ricky Curry; Kathy McCoy; John Curry; and Donna Jordan; thirteen grandchildren, Shana Cochran; Deja Curry; Ashley; Shelby; Paul; Jonathan; Christopher; Timothy; Nathan; Jake; Rachel; Ruthanne; and Larissa; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one brother, Jackie Barnett; and two sisters, Sheila; and Johnnie Sue.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John D. Curry Sr.; her sons, Ronald Curry and Harry Curry; her daughter, Cleta Phipps; her sisters, Kay, Puddin' Betty, and Shirley; and her brother, John G. "Sunny".

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Lewis Funeral Chapel, located at 4817 Kelley Hwy in Fort Smith, AR 72904. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, located at 522 Garland Ave in Fort Smith, AR 72901. Services are entrusted to Lewis Funeral Chapel.
