Lewis Cecil Goodwin, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on January 27, 2026. He was born on July 26, 1940, in Newport, Arkansas, to the late Dolph and Grace (Bolls) Goodwin.
Lewis proudly served in the United States Army for three years, including two years stationed in Berlin as a medic, where he met his beautiful bride, Karin (Scheuner) Goodwin. He later retired after 36 years of dedicated service in sales with the Lorillard Tobacco Company. Lewis was also a faithful and devoted member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Fort Smith.
Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Dolph and Grace Goodwin; and his sisters, Emma Lou Goodwin, Lois Black, and Mary Keel all of Newport, AR.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Karin Goodwin; his daughter, Michelle Green of Purdy, MO; his son, Brian L. Goodwin and wife Becky L. of Greenwood, AR; his grandchildren, Matthew L. Green and wife Chasity of Siloam Springs, AR; Dr. Kaethe Goodwin Chigumira and husband Sam of Fort Smith, AR; and Grayson P. Goodwin and wife Courtney of Pea Ridge, AR; and his great-grandchildren, Callie Green and Alara Goodwin, and Caleigh, Cason, and Caleb Farrar.
A committal service in honor of Lewis will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Fort Smith National Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with military honors. Pastor Tom Helmich is to officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Fort Smith National Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Lewis Funeral Chapel.
