Lola Faye Edwards, age 81, entered her heavenly home on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Born February 14, 1943, in Altus, Arkansas, Lola was a beloved daughter of Claude Smith and Toyley Mae Hill. She held a longtime career with Whirlpool as a factory worker for 25 years, until her retirement. Lola found herself exploring new ventures in her retired days, and she began raising dogs, solving puzzles, and tending to her flower beds. Lola also attended Vine Prairie Baptist Church in Mulberry for many years. She will be remembered as a stubborn but sweet woman, who loved to sing.
Lola is survived by her three children, Rick Belt of Alma, Arkansas; John Belt of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and Pamela Knox of Mansfield, Arkansas; three grandchildren, John Wisdom Jr. of Alaska; Jeremiah Wisdom of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and Tiffani Wisdom of Fort Smith, Arkansas; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy Smith of Ozark, Arkansas; one sister, Lillie Carter of Spiro, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Toyley (Hill) Smith; 8 brothers; 3 sisters; and one great-grandchild, Bella Wisdom.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Lewis Funeral Chapel, located at 4817 Kelley Hwy in Fort Smith, Arkansas 72904. The Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025, also at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow the service at New Cemetery, located at 1112 Alma Ave in Mulberry, Arkansas 72947.Pastor Tom Smith is to officiate. Pallbearers will be John Wisdom, Jeremiah Wisdom, Eston Randolph, David Knox, Logan Carter, and Tim Carter. Honorary Pallbearers are Wyatt Carter and Ted Childers.
