Luther "Steve" Steven Edwards, age 66, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025. Born on September 9, 1958, in Fresno, California, he was the son of Alton Luther Edwards and Jewell Desema (Summers) Edwards.
Steve served his country in the U.S. Navy before receiving an honorable discharge. After his service, he became a dedicated framer, working tirelessly to build homes for families across the Fort Smith area and all around the United States. Steve was known for his strong work ethic and his willingness to put in a hard day’s work, no matter what the challenge.
When not working, Steve loved spending time outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and shooting. If the weather kept him indoors, you could often find him working on cars or motorcycles, indulging in his passion for mechanics. He also had a deep love for movies, and he spent many hours writing songs and poems that reflected his creative spirit.
Steve is a child of God and a follower of Jesus Christ and will be remembered for his dry wit humor, but most importantly as devoted father and a hard-working, kind-hearted man who lived life to the fullest. His legacy will live on in the many lives he touched through his work and his love for his family.
Steve is survived by his children, Amber Polk and spouse Michael of Pocola, Oklahoma and Jacob Edwards of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Nikolas Castillo, Emily Doshier, Matthew Cook; six great grandchildren, Harper, Liam, Lemon, Hazel, Lukas, Lily; his former spouse, Debbie Shepherd Edwards; his life companion, Sheila Flurry; two siblings, Julie Edwards Eversole and spouse Danny of Van Buren, Arkansas and Jimmy Edwards of Barling, Arkansas; Niece, Stephanie Waack and spouse Matthew; Two Nephews Nathan Jent and Blake Sutton; two great nieces, Adaline Waack and Kaylea Jent; and one great nephew, Ethan Jent.
