Michael Eugene Hardwick

Michael Eugene Hardwick, age 70, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Baptist Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Born June 17, 1954, he was a beloved son of Alvin Harrison Hardwick and Florine Virginia (Carter) Hardwick. Michael was a dedicated individual, who held a longtime career working for the City of Fort Smith. In his free time, Michael enjoyed spending time outdoors, often going fishing or barbequing for his friends and family. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, and he loved taking them to sporting events and spending quality time together. Michael will be remembered for his giving spirit, and how he was the kind of man who would take the shirt off his back to help someone in need. He often volunteered in the Fort Smith community, and genuinely loved to help people.

He is survived by his three children, Stacy Hardwick; Justin Hardwick and wife Tynequa; and Elexxus Myers; ten grandchildren; one brother, Stacy Hardwick and wife Rose; four sisters, Constance Stratford, Denise Hardwick, Renee Butler, and Trillba Hardwick; along with a host of family and friends.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Florine Hardwick; his son, Michael Hardwick and spouse Teena Hardwick; twin-sister, Michelle Hardwick; and sister, Thea Hardwick.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Lewis Funeral Chapel, located at 4817 Kelley Hwy in Fort Smith, AR 72904. Pastor Lee Prince and Deborah Vann are to officiate. Honorary Pallbearers will be Amari Hardwick, Evan Hindmarsh, Ian Hardwick, Austin Hardwick, Brayden Hardwick, Deontre Hardwick, Shaun Hardwick, Dominic Hardwick, Derrick Hardwick, Patrick Hardwick, Yohance Stratford, and Wayne Jordan. Cremation is under the thoughtful direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
