Myrtle “Ann” (Duty) Jackson, age 73, passed away peacefully at her home in Muldrow, Oklahoma, on May 12, 2025. Born on May 1, 1952, in Nicut, Oklahoma, Ann was the cherished daughter of William Andrew Duty and Zella (Cox) Vanderheiden. On July 4, 1969, Ann married Jimmy Jackson. Together, they built a life centered around family and raised two children who were the pride and joy of her heart. Ann began her career at Whirlpool in 1977, where she worked faithfully until her retirement.
Ann was a woman of deep love and devotion—family meant everything to her. She treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she often shared the joy of church with them. Her gentle strength and unwavering kindness left a lasting mark on everyone she knew. A talented craftswoman, Ann enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and creating with her hands. She shared countless laughs and memories with her close-knit group of lifelong friends, affectionately known as the “Fab Five,” especially during their bunco nights. Ann’s giving spirit, genuine nature, and constant positivity made her someone people were drawn to. She loved fiercely, judged no one, and always looked for the good in others.
Ann is survived by Jimmy Jackson; her daughter, Stacy Royse, and her “favorite son-in-law,” Darren, of Muskogee, Oklahoma; her son, Jeff Jackson, of Maple, Oklahoma; four beloved grandchildren: Braden Royse and wife Faith, Bailey Wenig, Chance Jackson, and Alanna Jackson; and two treasured great-grandchildren: Weston “Monkey” Wenig and Quinn “Peanut” Wenig. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends, including her devoted care team—nieces Erin St. Clair, Laela Meadors, and Kennedy Leaverton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Duty and Zella Vanderheiden; and her siblings: Dee Duty, Bessie Holt, Luetta Sharp, Leon Duty, Doyle Duty, Darrell Duty, and Glenda St. Clair.
