Odis Vogel Stephens Jr. “Boggie”, age 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Heart of Hospice in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Born on October 1, 1947, in Fort Smith, he was the beloved son of Juanita Johns and Odis Stephens Sr.
Boggie proudly served his country in the United States Navy and bravely fought in the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he earned a bachelor's degree from UAFS and went on to have a long career at Whirlpool until his retirement.
On January 12, 1980, Boggie married the love of his life, Delicia Stephens, and together they shared many wonderful years. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—working on puzzles, connecting with friends and family on Facebook, and spending time with loved ones, including his cherished dog. A true food enthusiast, he always knew the best places to eat and enjoyed sharing his favorite spots.
A devoted Seventh-day Adventist and a proud Democrat, Boggie was known for his kindness, gentle spirit, and willingness to help others. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose warmth and generosity touched the lives of many.
Boggie is survived by his three children, Crystal Queen and her husband Dewayne; Marca Garner and her husband John; and Joe Stephens and wife Amy; as well as his six beloved grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Odis Stephens Sr. and Juanita Johns; his grandparents, Jewel and Charles Johns and Audrey and Darayl Medows; and his siblings, Sue Arnold and Lesslie Stephens.
Boggie’s legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later time. Cremation is under the thoughtful direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
