Robert Gray Bradley Jr., age 81, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, peacefully passed away on February 2, 2025. Born on July 28, 1943, in Fort Smith, he was the son of the late Robert Bradley Sr. and Sue Shields Bradley.
Robert graduated from Garden Grove High School in Garden Grove, California, in 1961. Shortly after high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving honorably from 1965 to 1970, including a tour in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969.
Following his military service, Robert’s adventurous spirit led him to travel the country, taking on various jobs. He worked on a cattle ranch in Weiser, Idaho, drove cross-country for United Van Lines out of Brooklyn, New York, and even owned a tavern in Baker, Oregon. It was during his travels that he met the love of his life, Debra Deceine Burris, and they married in Fort Smith on May 28, 1975.
Robert later pursued a career in healthcare, driven by his passion for helping others. He graduated from Sparks School for Respiratory Therapy in 1979, and in 1982, he earned his degree as a Registered Nurse from WestArk College. His diverse career included roles as an EMT-A, Respiratory Therapy Technician, and Registered Nurse. Robert dedicated many years of service to several organizations, including Sparks Hospital, United Blood Services, Chambers Memorial Hospital, Summit Medical Center, and he also taught at the Sparks School of Respiratory Therapy.
Robert’s legacy is one of service, love, and dedication. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
Robert is survived by a beloved son, Matt Bradley; his cherished grandson, Braxton Bradley; a brother, Dan Bradley; and his furry best friend, Jaxon. Robert is preceded in passing by his loving wife, Debra Deceine (Burris) Bradley; and his parents, Robert Bradley Sr. and Sue Shields Bradley.
Cremation is under the careful direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
