Robert D. Mayo, III, 68, passed to his heavenly home on September 5th, 2024 in Van Buren, Arkansas. Robert was born September 19, 1955 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Robert Doyle and Dorothy Ann (Geheb) Mayo. He married the love of his life, Christy Wilbanks January 27th, 1979 at the Immaculate Conception Church Chapel in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Together for 45 years, they built a beautiful life. He was employed by Rheem, Dixie Cup, and Stryten Energy. Robert was an avid gamer and chess player, and was a member of the U.S. Chess Federation. Robert will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and brother, who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Robert is survived by his devoted wife Christy Mayo; his children, Robert Erik Mayo and partner Serenity Reynolds of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Rachel Elyse Mayo and partner Bailey Crumpler of Little Rock, Arkansas; brothers Garry Mayo and wife Cheryl of Plano, Texas, and Roger Kelly Mayo of Marietta, Georgia; step-father Herschel Parker of Hackett, Arkansas; step brothers Kevin Parker and wife Gena of Greenwood, Arkansas, Tim Parker and wife Jo of Centerton, Arkansas; niece Leah Mayo of Rome, Georgia. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Robert D. Mayo, Jr. and Dorothy Parker. Funeral Service will be officiated by Father Rick at St. Michaels Catholic Church, 1025 East Pointer Trail, Van Buren, Arkansas, on Wednesday September 11th, 2024, at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be Tuesday September 10th, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Lewis Funeral Chapel, 4817 Kelley Highway, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Chuck Burger, Bryan Lawson, Dillon Marr, Kevin Parker, Easton Stroud, and Shonn Wilbanks, Honorary Pallbearers are Herschel Parker, Shirley Donnohue, Hollie Woods, Buddy Wilbanks, and John Wilbanks.
