Robert Linzy Mitchell died on November 8, 2024, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on October 21, 1930, in Harmon, Arkansas, the son of Linzy Ross Mitchell and Bess Thompson Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Edith Eileen Bookout, and brother Henry Donald Mitchell. He is survived by his wife, Donna Hembree Mitchell of the home, two sons—Aaron Linzy Mitchell (Margaret) of Dallas, Texas, and Tyler Roy Mitchell (Jessica) of Minneapolis, Minnesota—and one grandson, Samuel Owen Mitchell of Dallas, Texas. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces.
Robert graduated from Springdale High School and the University of Arkansas. He was a pitcher on the Razorback baseball team. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith and a past member of the Noon Exchange Club. He retired from Ralston Purina after 20 years of service and from National Home Center after 30 years of service. He also spent many years as a salesman for Ron’s Lumber.
He was cremated and the remains will be buried at a later private family service at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale.
