It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronnie Gale Womack, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on May 10, 2025, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Born on April 2, 1945, in Arkansas, Ronnie lived a full and vibrant life, marked by love, laughter, and a spirit of generosity that touched everyone he encountered.
Ronnie was the cherished son of Johnnie and Earnest Womack, who instilled in him the values of hard work, kindness, and perseverance. December 6, 1963, Ronnie married the love of his life, Billie Jean Miller, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Together, they shared a beautiful journey of 61 years and 5 months, building a loving family and creating a lifetime of memories.
Ronnie is survived by his devoted wife, Billie Jean Womack, and their three children: Ronnie Gene Womack and his wife Sandy of Fort Smith, AR; Timothy Matthew Womack and his wife Lavon of Huntington, AR; and Kimberly Perceful of Fort Smith, AR. He was a proud grandfather to six cherished grandchildren: Matthew Womack and his wife Natosha, Michael Womack, Christian Campbell, and Alexandra Buckner and her husband Blake, Faith Campbell and Riley Pearceful. Ronnie also took immense joy in being a great-grandfather to two beautiful great-grandchildren, Bear Buckner and Birk Buckner, both of Bartlesville, OK.
Throughout his life, Ronnie was known for his laid-back demeanor, infectious humor, and a charitable spirit that made even the toughest times bearable. He had a passion for life that was reflected in his many hobbies and interests. An avid street racer and dirt track auto racing enthusiast, Ronnie spent countless hours behind the wheel, embracing the thrill of performance auto and hot rods. He was not only a competitor but also a lover of the camaraderie that racing fostered.
Ronnie's diverse career began as a gas station attendant and evolved through various roles, including a land surveyor apprentice for the Beaver Dam Project, owner of a janitorial service, and heavy machinery operator and project supervisor for the Paul N. Howard Company installing municipal utilities. His journey also took him to Negev Airbase Constructors in the Negev Desert of Israel and involved significant contributions to improvement projects at Fort Chaffee. Later, he became an over-the-road truck driver and eventually the owner of Crawford Fence Company in Van Buren, Arkansas, eventually retiring as a contractor for A.T.&T.
An open visitation will be held on May 14, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Ronnie's life will be celebrated on May 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Lewis Funeral Chapel, where family and friends will come together to honor a man who brought so much joy and laughter into their lives. His legacy of love, strength, and humor will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
As we say our goodbyes, we take comfort in knowing that Ronnie's spirit will forever remain with us, guiding us with his laughter and love. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Ronnie’s honor, reflecting his charitable nature and love for community.
