Ruby graduated from Wasco High School, studied Banking, and received her CNA licensure, which led her to work at Pink Bud Nursing Home. First, she had married in 1962, Taft, CA to Bill Rushing, again in Bakersfield, CA. to Robert Schoonover, and finally found her beloved husband Lonnie Long, marrying him  Dec. 17, 1990, in Bakersfield, CA.,

She never missed her favorite shows: Yellowstone, NCIS, Blue Bloods, and Matlock. She enjoyed wine, Coca-Cola, and her Grandkids, who gave her the award for Best Grandma.
