Sheila Louise Dewitt, age 67, passed away on July 1, 2026, at her home in Booneville, Arkansas. She was born on December 21, 1958, in Odessa, Texas, to William Ivan Dewitt Sr. and Mae Louise (Porter) Dewitt.
Sheila earned her G.E.D. and throughout her life embraced a variety of careers, reflecting her many talents and strong work ethic. She courageously served as a firefighter, first responder, and training officer, dedicating herself to helping others in times of need. She also spent many years working as a cook in several restaurants, where her love for preparing meals was evident in family favorites like her chocolate gravy and no-bake cookies. Most recently, she worked as a housekeeper.
Outside of work, Sheila found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved creating handmade jewelry, including necklaces, bracelets, and earrings, and had a fondness for collecting turtle keepsakes. Above all, she treasured camping trips with her family and the memories they made together outdoors.
A true people person, Sheila enjoyed spending time with friends while playing BINGO or visiting the casino, where she seemed to have a special knack for winning. More than the games themselves, she cherished the friendships and sense of community she found wherever she went.
Sheila will be remembered for her ornery spirit, quick wit, and unfiltered honesty. She had a remarkable ability to make people laugh and brighten even the hardest days. Her generous heart, willingness to help others through difficult times, and genuine love for everyone she met left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Sheila is survived by her children, Donna Scott and husband, Roy, of Booneville, and Jerry Jones of Magazine; two grandchildren, Trenton Lilly and Jorden Andrews; one great-granddaughter, Jazmine Andrews; her siblings, Larry Dewitt and wife, Rose, Brenda Shelton and husband, Robert, of Booneville, and Tammy Reed and husband, Shane, of Perryville; several nieces and nephews, including Christopher Christian, Tony Smith, Josh Christian, Dena Roseberry, Larry Dewitt, Kyle Dewitt, Tina Hooten, Margie Roberts, Scotty Dewitt, Ashley Young, Amber Lattin, Mathew Shelton, Micheal Shelton, Bobby Shelton, and Mandi Shelton; as well as a host of extended family members and dear friends, including Ashley Nix, Gary Bell, Tonya Ramirez, and Rudy Fielder.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mae Dewitt, and her brothers, Roger Dewitt, Leon Dewitt, and William Ivan Dewitt Jr.
The family will hold a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to her sister, Brenda Shelton.
