Sherry Lynn Dean

Sherry “Grammy” Lynn Dean, age 78, of Lavaca Arkansas, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family  early Tuesday morning March 31, 2026.  Sherry was born on January 15, 1948, in North Little Rock Arkansas to Maybelle (Schellinger) and Walter Morphew.  On June 3, 1966  Sherry Married the great love of her life,  Ronnie Allen Dean,  and for 59 years they walked through life side by side and hand in hand.  Sherry gave birth to three girls, Angie (Carter), Anita (Deaver), and Amanda (Hall).  Sherry retired from Whirlpool in 2000.   

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Maybell Morphew, as well as a brother, Danny Morphew.  She is Survived by her husband Ronnie Dean; three daughters Angie Carter (Chase), Anita Deaver (Jon), and Amanda Hall (Joe);  eight grand children Allen Deaver (Hannah), Eriq Deaver (Natalie), Amber Graves (Janson), Isaac Deaver (Jessica), Justin Hall (Jordyn), Jimmy Hall (Brianna), Ellie McCollough (Pete), Jackson Hall,  as well as thirteen bonus grandchildren from around the world;  ten great “Grands” Owen, Marshall, Grant, Karmyn, Wesley, James, Margaret, Adaline, Laney, and Laken; five siblings Barbara Holder, Kathy Rantz, Robert Morphew, Walter Morphew Jr, Robin Morphew; countless nephews, nieces, and cousins; as well as the many friends and loved ones she has made in this place called Lavaca.  

Sherry loved her community. She was “Grammy” to countless cheerleaders, softball, basketball, volleyball players, coaches, and band kids from Lavaca.  Her heart pumped purple and gold blood and the love she gave was felt through many generations of Golden Arrows. 

Visitation will be Friday, April 3rd 2026 from 5:00-7:00 pm at  Lewis Funeral Chapel in Lavaca.  

Service will be Saturday, April 4th at 2:00pm at the Lavaca Performing Arts Center .  

Memorial Donations:  The family is asking that in leu of flowers or gifts, you consider making a donation to the Lavaca High School Cheer Team in Sherry’s honor. Any donations can be dropped at the High School office or mailed to PO Box 8 Lavaca AR 72941.
