Shirley Ann Underwood, age 76, of Fort Smith, passed away on November 19, 2025. She was born on February 22, 1949, in Corning, New York, and was a cherished daughter of Nathan Cole and Alice Mae (Crane) Cahill.
On July 9, 1967, in her hometown of Corning, Shirley married the love of her life, Clayton Adelbert Underwood. Together, they built a life filled with devotion, hard work, and treasured memories. Shirley later retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of the Fort Smith Orthodox Church.
In her younger years, Shirley found joy in traveling, especially to the beach and the mountains. She also loved watching football and spending quiet moments working on crossword puzzles.
Shirley is survived by her three children, Terry Underwood and Kelleen Ketchum, both of Fort Smith, and Jeffrey Underwood of Warren, PA; her four grandchildren: Brandon, Celine, Dominique, and Kyra; her six great-grandchildren, Kaylin, Brooklynn, Livia, Aliina, LiAngelo, and Roman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved childhood friend, Betty Tomic.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Underwood; her parents, Alice Mae Cahill and Nathan Cole; and her brother, David Cahill.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Cremation under the care of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
