Steve Shamlin, age 66, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away on September 19, 2025. He was born on November 20, 1958, in Alamosa, Colorado, and spent the majority of his life in Arkansas, a place he always loved and was proud to call home.
Throughout his life, Steve wore many hats—from running his own landscaping business to owning and working in restaurants—but wherever he worked, his passion and creativity always shone through. He especially loved to cook, and his manicotti and goulash were family favorites, always made with care and shared with love.
An avid fisherman, Steve found peace casting a line in the White River near Eureka Springs, often reeling in trout and enjoying the beauty of nature. He was also a lifelong sports fan with a special love for baseball, a passion he passed down through generations.
Steve was known for his sharp wit, sarcastic humor, and quick comebacks that could make anyone laugh. His ability to find humor in everyday moments was one of his most endearing traits, and he never missed a chance to lighten the mood with a clever remark.
Above all else, Steve lived for his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his son, Steven Shamlin (35), and his daughter, Leesa Shamlin (32), as well as his beloved grandchildren Valerie, Viviane, Vaeda, and Violet. Also cherished were his grand dogs, Chance and Jane, constant companions of Steven.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, George Lawrence Shamlin, and his mother, Janey Dyer.
Steve’s memory will live on through the recipes he shared with family and friends, his love for the outdoors, and the humor and warmth he brought to every moment.
His children will be honoring his life in a private memorial ceremony.
