Thurman Knauls

Thurman “Rooster Worm” Knauls, age 62, of Roland, Oklahoma, passed away on June 29, 2026.

Born on September 27, 1963, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Thurman was the son of Dorothy May Knauls and Lester Ray Knauls Sr. He was also lovingly raised by David Carolina Sr.

Above all of Thurman’s accomplishments, he was a true family man. He loved his children deeply and remained fiercely devoted to his brothers, sisters, and loved ones. He brought that same loyalty and dedication to his professional life, giving many years of service to Coleman Manufacturing as both a licensed welder and heavy machine operator, known for his ability to fix just about anything.

Thurman was a big fan of the Oklahoma Sooners and the Chicago Bulls. He especially enjoyed basketball and took pride in his collection of basketball cards. Thurman will be remembered for his lighthearted spirit, quick wit, and charming personality. Known for his love of making others laugh and his fondness for the ladies, he brought joy to those around him. His kindness, humor, and ability to lift the hearts of others will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his daughter, Tamarah Janae Dixon, and husband, Trenton; his two grandchildren, Andreais Demetri Camarillo and Kobie Dawn Dixon; his siblings, Deloris Elaine Castleberry, Lester Ray Knauls Jr., James Knauls, Michael Knauls, Velda Knauls-Price, Gregory E. Canady, Dorothea M Joseph, Charles Canady, David Carolina Jr., Johnnie Carolina Sr., Mary Kursh, and Freddie Carolina; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Thurman was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy M Knauls-Gatlin, Lester Ray Knauls Sr., and David Carolina Sr.; his brothers, Philip L. Knauls, Tony A. Knauls, and Curtis W. Knauls, as well as a host of extended family members.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 2037 N 14th St, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00, along with a reception in the fellowship hall. Cremation is under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
