Vera Jean Harris, age 91, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. Born on December 30, 1934, in Charleston, Arkansas, to Paul Edwin and Alma Nettie (English) Jones. Vera lived a life filled with faith, love, laughter, and devotion to her family and friends.
A dedicated and hardworking woman, Vera retired from Sparks Regional Medical Center's Physical Therapy department after many years of service. She found joy in gardening, fishing, baking, and singing. Her love for music was evident in her faithful participation in church, where she especially enjoyed singing praises. Those who knew Vera will remember her warm sense of humor, her deep love for God, and the kindness she shared with everyone around her.
She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory, including her five children: Michael Lacey and wife Tina, Terry Lacey and wife Victoria, Phillip Harris and wife Loretta, Debbie Crawford, Tina Reyes, and Sandy Eckert and husband John; her three grandchildren: Jonathan Lacey, Michael Lacey, and Rylie Robinson; and her great-grandson, Lucas Lacey. She is also further survived by her sisters, Donna Barnes of Gore, Oklahoma; Pat Mize and husband Tom of Rudy, Arkansas; her dear friend, Sandy Pyles; and many other relatives and friends whose lives were touched by her love and friendship.
Vera is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Alma Jones; her beloved husband, Edward Ray Harris; her son, Paul Raymond Lacey; and her sister, Wilma Stem.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Brooken Hill Nursing Home for all their love and care, and another special thank you to Heart of Hospice for taking such good care of Vera in her last days.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Spiro City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tom Mize, Jody Mize, Nolan Mize, Lane Bell, Jim Stem Jr., and Matt Raynor. Services are entrusted to Lewis Funeral Chapel.
