William “Bill” Henry Abney, age 75, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away on July 24, 2025, in Fort Smith. He was born on December 19, 1949, in Batesville, Arkansas, to Otto and Celia (Weaver) Abney.
He was a jack of all trades, having worked as a barber, cab driver, and truck driver throughout his life. He was known for his adventurous spirit and strong work ethic. In his younger years, he enjoyed boxing and going fishing, and later found joy in riding his motorcycle.
Those who knew Bill will remember him as someone who was always fun to be around. He never complained, always had a positive attitude, and faced life with a smile. He was a true daredevil at heart—brave, spirited, and full of life.
Bill never married; however, he is survived by his beloved partner, Penny Thomas. He was also survived by his daughter, Katrina Stromatt and husband Terry, from Ellsinore, Missouri; his seven grandchildren, Austin, Valarie Tidwell, Daniel, Joshua Stromatt, Mikayla Burkhart, Madeleine Davis, and Zackary Henson-Abney; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; two nieces; and lifelong friend and the mother of his children, Cathy Wood.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Logan Abney; and his brother, Weaver Abney, and a nephew.
Bill's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Cremation under the care of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
